On Saturday June 22 2019, Peter Krautle of Louisa Voice represented the Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative (BVMI) at the Health and Fitness Expo held at the Metlife Stadium in Rutherford, New Jersey. Louisa Voice has provided financial assistance to BVMI for the last three years – BVMI delivers free healthcare to working individuals and their families in Bergen County who cannot afford to pay for health insurance. Bergen County has a population of approximately 1 million people and is one of the wealthiest counties in the United States. It is estimated that there are over 70,000 working individuals in Bergen County that cannot afford health insurance. BVMI’s volunteer doctors, nurses, and other support staff provided free healthcare to over 1500 patients in 2018.
Accompanying Peter at the BVMI booth in Metlife Stadium is Dr. Tony Koshy, who is a researcher at NYU Langone, and is just beginning his residency work following completion of his medical doctorate work. Dr. Koshy recently started volunteering with BVMI, sharing his research expertise with the existing medical staff. While at Metlife Stadium, Peter managed to get a picture with Chad Wheeler, the 6 foot 7 inch 315 pound lineman for the NY Giants!
